Vacation in Italy. Turin

Founded back in 28 BC, Turin is today the 4th largest city in Italy. During the Roman Empire, there was a military camp surrounded by a rampart. But to this day, little has survived from those times. Many of Turin's attractions date back to the Middle Ages, when the city became noticeably prettier.

What will attract the attention of a tourist when visiting the capital of Piedmont?
1. Mole Antonelliana. This tower is named after the architect who built it. Work began in 1863 and was completed in 1889. The height of the structure is about 168 meters, it is one of the tallest hand-made buildings in Italy. It now houses the Cinema Museum, considered the largest in Europe.
2. Palazzo Madama. This building was built on a Romanesque foundation and on one side is a remnant of the fortress that defended the city. In the 15th century, the fortress was expanded, and 2 more towers were added to it. The palazzo got its name "Madame's Palace" in 1637, when Duchess Marie of France settled in it.
3. Piazza San Carlo. This square was designed in 1637 and is famous for the Bronze Horseman sculpture located here. A monument has been erected to Duke Philibert, who moved the capital of the duchy to Turin. The churches of Santa Cristina and San Carlo can also be seen on the square. They are called twin churches for their almost complete external similarity. But they were built by different architects, so it will be interesting for tourists to look for differences in their appearance.
4. Cathedral of San Giovanni Batista. Many tourists are attracted by the Shroud of Turin located here, known throughout the Christian world. According to legend, it was in this cloth that the body of Christ was wrapped. The chapel of the Holy Shroud (Sacra Sindone) was built under the direction of Guarino Guarini to store this shrine.
5. Palatine Gate. Built at the beginning of the 1st century AD, they frame the entrance to the ancient city. They are flanked by towers that were added in the Middle Ages. They got their name because of their close proximity to the Palazzo Reale.
6. Valentino Park. When visiting Turin, it is impossible not to visit the gardens and parks for which this city is famous. The most famous is Valentino, located on the banks of the Po River in the very center of the city. There is also a Castle of the same name, which served as a fortress in the Middle Ages.
7. Street arcades. They are another architectural landmark of Turin. Some of them are about 18 km long, while some intersect with each other. Walking through the spacious and bright galleries will not leave tourists indifferent and will allow them to enjoy the unique appearance of this city. https://cultmoscow.com/vse-obo-vsem/stavki-ks-go-kak-uvelichit-svoi-shansy-na-pobedu/
